Announcement Chapter 5: June 15, 2001
There are 16 new pictures on Sarah's website, finally catching us up on her last 3 months [age 7 to 9 months], including her trips to Vancouver and New York.
As of today Sarah is cutting her first tooth -- upper left canine; we're fondly calling her "Fang". She's none too happy about it, gnawing on everything and kvetching, poor little chomper, but we are thrilled. She's still not yet crawling, though when she sits she can spin on her bottom, do the splits and reach surprisingly distant objects, so she may feel there's no need to crawl. She would very much like to stand up and walk; when we hold her up, she's almost balancing on her feet, and sometimes her tiptoes. She likes her toes; she likes to count them, point them, kick them constantly, and hold them while extending her leg as only dancers can do. She also likes to clap her hands, even when people on the radio clap. She has a surprisingly large vocabulary: she can say kitty ("ket"), duck ("dk"), ball ("bah"), bath ("ba"), dog ("dg"), kid ("kd"), and hat ("hat"). She also signs "more" and "book", and definitely understands when we say "nursing", "diaper change", and "rice cake"! Every day we see more of how she is a wonderful little person: cheerful, adventurous, loves new experiences, books, music, parties, and especially BigKids.
